Since my trip to Wisconsin in August, I’ve been wondering about James Campbell, brother to my 3x-great-grandmother Ann Campbell. He served in the Civil War and died in action. I wanted to learn more about his military service.
Campbell Field Trip!
Our oldest son recently moved to Holmen, Wisconsin. Our first visit there gave me the opportunity to see two cemeteries and make plans for future family history research.

This week’s theme is “Crime and Punishment.” Our ancestors were human, so it tends to reason that someone in the family tree found themselves on the wrong side of the law. The up-side for us is that they often created more records than the law-abiding ancestors!

Almost on a whim, I checked out the ScotlandsPeople data to see if there was anything new for the Campbell family and was delighted to find that Ann’s baptism record had been added to their digital collection about three months ago.
