Thelma’s Photo Album

February 15, 2010 by karen

My grandma, Thelma Ethel (Frasier) Pearson, once made a photo album containing photos of her mother’s and father’s families. A few years ago, my mom took that photo album apart and then put it back together again using acid-free archival materials. She copied all of the inscriptions and kept all the photos is the same order. This is just one of several photo albums that my parents have restored.

I thought it would be good to scan all the photos in these albums so I could share the photos with everyone. It’s going to be a big project!
We’ll get started with the Timmons family. Thelma’s book actually starts with her father’s family, the Frasiers, but with the recent interest in the Timmons family I thought I’d start there first.
Let’s take a quick look at the Timmons family tree so we know how it all fits together.

Lola’s parents were Charles Franklin Timmons and Emily Bass. In the coming weeks, we’ll be looking at photos of both the Timmons and the Bass families.
Wouldn’t you know, the first photo in this section was of Salathiel Timmons, his wife Lydia and their daughter Effie And here I was all excited a few weeks ago to find a cousin who had this photo, and it turned out we had it all along. Oh well, I got to meet a new cousin out of the deal (hi, Tammie!).
On all the photos I’ll be posting in coming weeks, you can click on the photo to see the full-size image. Then you can right-click on the enlarged version to save a copy on your own computer, if you’d like.

I like to look at details in photos like this. Does Lydia’s dress have holes in the skirt? Those might be marks on the photo, but I don’t see those marks anywhere except on her skirt.
It looks like both women are wearing corsets. Can you imagine?
Both Lydia and Effie have books in their hands but I think they’re just props and not otherwise significant.
